Configuring Syringe Pumps for Automation: Switch off NVRAM
Pump settings for controlling a pump from a PC
If you will be controlling your PhD Ultra or Pump 11 Elite syringe pump from a PC, it is recommended that you switch off the NVRAM
The Procedure
If you will be sending commands from Labview (or any other automation software), you will have to send the ‘nvram none’ command. This will prevent the pump from writing the flow rate to the NVRAM. Since that information will be set in Labview, there is no benefit to storing it on the pump, and Labview can sometimes send the commands over at too high a frequency, damaging the NVRAM
Connect your pump to a PC running pump terminal, and send the command
nvram none
Special Notes:
If your firmware is 3.0.2 or earlier, the nvram none command is not supported, and you will need to use the ‘nvram off’ command. This command is not saved, and will need to be sent every time the pump is turned on for use with the automation software
